About Us

Harrow Academy UK is ideally situated in central Harrow, a leafy suburb in North West London, with excellent public transport connections to Central London. At Harrow Academy UK we aim to broaden our students' knowledge of the English language in a friendly and stimulating environment. Our students are highly motivated and they benefit from individual attention in small to medium-sized classes. The general English curriculum focuses on the four main language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Alternatively, in one-to-one lessons, students can concentrate on specific language needs or specialist areas of interest such as business English. Students are issued with certificates on completion of their course. Our experienced teachers are trained to teach English to speakers of other languages and will strive to enable their students to communicate effectively in the UK . Harrow is an ideal place to spend your time. Heathrow Airport is within easy reach and there are plenty of regular bus, train and underground services. We can arrange accommodation to suit your requirements. You can choose to stay in a local hotel, in Bed and Breakfast accommodation or with an approved host family.

You will be warmly welcomed at Harrow Academy UK where we pride ourselves on our very personal approach. Our helpful staff are available to advise you on accommodation, travel, banking, medical services and etiquette.

Hi everyone

Here are 2 new dates for your diaries:-

January 9th – The school reopens for classes. Yes, I’m afraid we are closed from now until 9/1/2012. During this time we will be doing some refurbishment so you will see a few changes when you return.

January 10th – Evening classes restart. After a bit of a gap we are starting up the evening classes again. Initially, we will have intermediate level but we hope that other levels will return soon afterwards. Contact reception for prices and more details.

So that’s it for 2011. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff and teachers at Harrow Academy UK. See you in 2012.

Summer is over - the new season begins

Hi everyone

I hope your summer has been good. We’ve certainly been busy here in Harrow – even though our weather wasn’t as good as last year. We are enrolling now for autumn and winter so contact us straight away to make sure you get a place.

The morning Advanced (CAE) class has finished for now, although there has been some interest in starting one in the evening. If this interests you, let me know and we’ll look into it. We also ran an Elementary class this summer, which was very enjoyable for the students and the teacher (it was me!)

Over the summer period we have had students from 22 different countries. We love having so many nationalities here. Everyone learns so much from each other. The students improve their English and we all find out about different cultures.

So it’s time to move on to the new academic year. We want to get the evening classes running again in September and of course the morning group classes and afternoon private lessons are always available. Contact us soon.

Back to work!

Friday, 06 May 2011 12:50

Everything is back to normal (well, almost!) now after all the holidays and celebrations. A number of our Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) students are taking the exam in June and it is good to see how hard they are all working to achieve success. The restart of the intermediate evening class has been delayed due to too many absences. We hope to get it going again on 17 May.

Summer classes are getting booked up. Register now to make sure you get a place. We are open every weekday from now until December (except for the Bank Holidays on 30 May and 29 August) so contact us now to arrange your summer dates.

Student Visas: UKBA has issued new rules regarding students who want to get a General Student Visa. They must now have a minimum level of English and proof must be in the form of a Secure English Language Test (SELT). We provide preparation for the Cambridge suite of examinations (PET, FCE, and CPE) as well as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), all of which are recognised as a SELT.

Are you looking forward to an extended holiday period? A lot of people are taking the opportunity to go away for a few days. Harrow Academy UK is closing for the Bank Holidays (22nd, 25th and 29th April and 2nd May) but we will be open for all the other days. So there is no excuse for missing this opportunity to improve your English. The morning classes will be running at pre-intermediate, intermediate and upper intermediate (FCE Preparation) levels. The evening classes are taking a break and will restart on Tuesday 3rd May. Contact reception if you want to join.

The best of luck to Prince William and Kate and enjoy your Easter eggs everyone!
